Cases of Theft in Energy Consumption Highlighted

This year, 15,000 cases of natural gas and 28,000 cases of electricity theft have been detected. The reason for this is that the current system addresses the consequences, not the prevention, of illegal connections. Yesterday, on July 1, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reported this during a meeting on measures to increase energy efficiency in various sectors and regions.

In the presentation, the need to strictly control energy consumption and increase the responsibility of those in charge was emphasized. It was reported that several projects are being implemented in cooperation with foreign companies, including the construction of power stations. This year, it is planned to launch power plants with a total capacity of 4 gigawatts from all sources.

The head of state emphasized that investment projects in the energy sector and agreements with foreign partners should be executed at a high level. Additionally, information on preparations for the autumn-winter season was shared during the meeting.

It was noted that work has started on the repair of 850 kilometers of the main network and 9 substations. Furthermore, 595 kilometers of new electricity networks will be built, and several new substations will be put into operation. Reserves of fuel, components, and spare parts necessary for the stable operation of thermal stations are being established.

Officials were tasked with increasing energy production, modernizing infrastructure, and ensuring the continuity of energy supply.
