The case concerning Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov’s complaint against economist Otabek Bakirov has been terminated. This was reported by the press service of Tashkent city courts in response to an inquiry from QALAMPIR.UZ.
According to the report, on May 7, the Yashnabad District Criminal Court terminated the case against Otabek Bakirov without consideration. The reason was that the statute of limitations for imposing punishment under the article on spreading false information had expired.
Earlier, it was reported that Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov had filed a complaint against blogger Otabek Bakirov over posts about long queues at gas filling stations and repeated power outages. In particular, in the winter of 2024, Bakirov wrote on his Telegram channel that the Avto24 app, presented by the Ministry of Energy as a source of information on gas availability and queues at methane filling stations, was not working properly despite billions of soums reportedly being spent on it. He also criticized the increase in repeated gas and electricity outages in Tashkent district, allegedly carried out “to meet the plan.”
Nearly 14 months after the incident, on January 23, 2026, the Tashkent City Department of Internal Affairs issued a decision refusing to open a criminal case. However, on March 25, 2026, the Tashkent city prosecutor’s office overturned that decision. A court hearing in the case was scheduled for May 1 this year, but it was postponed indefinitely after the judge said more time was needed to review the case.
