4145Permission forms are no longer required for cargo transportation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. This change was specified in the protocol of amendments and additions to the agreement on "International Road Traffic" between the two governments, which has been ratified by the lower house of Tajikistan's Parliament.
During the parliamentary session, Tajikistan’s Minister of Transport, Azim Ibrahim, emphasized that the amendments are aimed at simplifying transit for cargo vehicles between the two countries. He noted that following these changes, cargo transportation will no longer require permit forms.
It is highlighted that Tajik cargo carriers conduct more than 36,000 transits annually through Uzbekistan. After the ratification, transit transportation will now proceed without the need for the one-time permit named "dozvol".
"This protocol was signed by Tajikistan to improve transit conditions and support the country's strategic goal of becoming a transit hub," according to the report.
For the protocol to take effect, ratification by Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament was necessary. Under Tajikistan’s laws, international agreements—along with the law on the "State Budget"—do not require consideration by the upper house of parliament.
It should be recalled that previously, many trucks were stuck at the Tajik-Uzbek border due to rising border crossing license fees for trucks and the difficulty of obtaining them.
