The President announces - conditions will be created to employ students, Rectors, and Governors will be designated as responsible for this

Some 100,000 students who wish to work have been listed in Uzbekistan and the rectors and governors are now personally responsible for creating conditions for them. This was declared during a video conference chaired by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on measures to improve the standard of living of students in higher education institutions on 4 March.

The main subject of the meeting was the creation of additional work opportunities so that many of the students can earn money.

It is noted that there are currently 510,000 full-time students (820,000 in all) in higher education institutions in the country.

Interviews and surveys among rectors and students were conducted in accordance with the instructions of the head of state. According to him, about 100,000 students notified their wish to work and provide for themselves financially. In particular, among them 7,500 orphans or students with disabilities, and 4,500 students listed in « privileged notebooks» have been identified.
«These figures are very high; therefore, rectors are personally responsible for communicating with every student, ascertaining the real situation and their employment», – Mirziyoyev said.

At present, there are 105,000 vacancies for students.

Which of the governors or rectors analyzed the labor market and gave students a job? So far, no one has been able to answer that question.

Governors and rectors should know one thing – «it is necessary to help students who need to work and to ensure their employment», the President said at the meeting.

For the orderly organization of this work, a decision has been made to establish a republican commission headed by the Prime Minister. The governors, together with the rectors, will set up such commissions in the regions.
Commission:
- determines the “student balance” in each department of the university together with the regional governors and rectors;
- analyses the existence of vacancies and takes measures to employ at least 30-40 per cent of students in 1, 2 and 3 courses in each region;

- determines the future jobs of graduating students together with the governor, the rector, and the enterprises and send them for a paid 3-4-month internship.
