Part-time education for teacher training to be discontinued in Uzbekistan

8611In Uzbekistan, part-time education will no longer be offered for the training of pedagogical personnel. This change is stipulated in the Presidential Decree “On Measures to Further Improve the System of Teacher Training,” signed on April 28.
According to the decree, starting from the 2025/2026 academic year:
- Teacher training will be conducted only in full-time and evening formats, and admissions to part-time education programs will be discontinued.
- The licensing of private educational services in the field of higher pedagogical education will be carried out based on the conclusion of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education.
From the 2025/2026 academic year, a new system will be introduced to recruit professors and instructors to teach in international educational programs implemented at universities, with the involvement of foreign specialists.
Starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, in order to further improve the education system for children with special needs, master’s programs in hospital pedagogy will be launched to train specialized personnel.
From September 1, 2026, international educational programs will be gradually introduced into the curriculum of existing pedagogical technical schools across the country.
In addition, under the decree, the Uzbekistan National Pedagogical University named after Nizami will be established based on the Tashkent State Pedagogical University. The newly established university is designated as the leading higher education institution in the country for training pedagogical personnel.
Also, beginning with the 2025/2026 academic year:
- The university’s management system will be fundamentally reformed based on the experience of New Uzbekistan University.
- The existing 14 faculties will be optimized and restructured into six higher schools of pedagogy.
- Academic activities will be managed through a digitized learning management system (LMS), integrated with the Higher Education Management Information System (HEMIS).
- International educational programs will be gradually introduced into undergraduate programs starting from the first year of study.
