Disabled people and their caregivers are provided with the same amount of pension separately

Disabled persons will henceforth receive the same amount of 622,000 som, regardless of the duration of disability. The decree signed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoev «On further strengthening the measures of social support for disabled people» stated this on 17 February.

In keeping with the decree, regardless of the period of disability, persons with disabilities will receive the same amount of pensions equal to 622,000 sum. According to preliminary estimates, pensions for 49,000 persons with disabilities would increase by 41 percent. An additional 81 billion som will be allocated for this measure until 2022.

In order to preserve the social fairness of the system, the number of disability pensions which are lower than the medium amount of pensions will be increased to 622,000 som.  At the same time, the pensions of 133,000 persons receiving a disability pension will increase by an average of 29 percent.  An additional 140 billion som will be allocated from the Pension Fund in 2022.

According to the decree, parents caring for disabled children up to the age of 18 years and in need of permanent care, will receive a new childcare allowance equal to at least the minimum consumer expenditure (500,000 sum).

As a result of the introduction of a new pension, mothers caring for disabled children will receive a guaranteed basic source of income.

The allowance is appointed on the basis of the list of illnesses of children under 18 years of age requiring care approved by the Decree. As a result, according to preliminary estimates, an additional 157 billion sum will be allocated from the State budget to more than 30,000 mothers raising children with disabilities in 2022.
