Criminal liability will be imposed for forcing the transplantation of human organs. This is stipulated in a law signed by the president of Uzbekistan.
According to the amendments introduced to the Criminal Code by law, liability will be imposed for forcing a person to consent to the transplants of their organs and (or) tissues, and this act is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 5 to 8 years in aggravating circumstances.
Criminal liability has also been established for illicit trafficking in human organs and (or) tissues, as well as for taking them out of Uzbekistan illegally.
Preliminary investigations into these crimes will be conducted by law enforcement agencies.
This law shall come into force on the date of its official publication.
