As part of the second stage of the "Safe and Healthy Country" emergency and preventive operation, law enforcement uncovered a case of illegal crop cultivation and drug possession in the Pakhtaobod district of Andijan region. This was reported by the regional Department of Internal Affairs.

According to the report, a 69-year-old resident of Pakhtaobod district, born in 1956, was found cultivating 16 cannabis plants in iron pots inside his apartment. During the operation, officers also discovered approximately one kilogram of dried cannabis packed in 36 matchboxes and stored in a cellophane bag. The discovery was officially documented in the presence of witnesses.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Article 270 (cultivation of prohibited crops) and Part 5 of Article 273 (illegal preparation, acquisition, storage, and other activities involving narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances with the intent to distribute) of the Criminal Code. The investigation is currently ongoing.

It is worth noting that a similar case was reported earlier in the Kattakurgan district of the Samarkand region, where an 85-year-old man was detained for planting 511 narcotic plants in his yard.
