Davlat Bobonov becomes the World Champion in the competition, which Mirziyoyev watched directly

Davlat Bobonov won the gold medal at the World Championships held in Tashkent on 10 October.

Davlat Bobonov, the winner of Tokyo-2020, in the final went on the tatami against the Italian Christian Parlati.  Bobonov defeated his rival and became the champion.

Before the final, the country defeated Peter Zylka from Slovakia, Ju Yup Han from Korea, Ivaylo Ivanov from Bulgaria, and the champion of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo Lasha Bekauri from Georgia.

It should be noted that the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev witnessed the victory of Bobonov from the arena “Humo”.

In addition to Davlat Bobonov, Shokhista Nazarova (-70kg) and Gulnoza Matniyozova (-70kg) participated in the competition on 10 October.  Nazarova went on to score against Chinese Taipei representative Yu Jung Liao and lost by the ippon score.  Matniyozova lost to Barbara Matić in the semi-finals.  Miriam Butkerait from Germany beat Matniyozova in the transition and won the bronze medal.

For reference, the World Judo Championship will last until 13 October.
