Tashkent ranked among world’s best cities for 2025

The ranking of the world’s best cities has been announced, with Tashkent taking 471st place globally, according to the Oxford Economics Global Cities Index.

The city of Almaty in Kazakhstan was named the best city in Central Asia for 2025, securing 258th place worldwide. Tashkent was ranked third among Central Asian cities, following Astana, which came in 276th globally.

The index evaluates 1,000 cities worldwide based on five key categories: economy, human capital, quality of life, environment, and governance.

Central Asian City Rankings:
Almaty – 258th place (1st in the region)
Astana – 276th place
Tashkent – 471st place
Bishkek – 498th place
Shymkent – 534th place
Ashgabat – 623rd place
Dushanbe – 683rd place.

Oxford Economics is an independent international firm specializing in economic forecasting and analysis. Its rankings assess cities based on their structural strengths, opportunities, and challenges at a global scale.

It is worth noting that the Uzbekistan national brand also saw an improvement this year, rising from 57th to 55th place among the countries of the world.
