The Dubai Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating a violent altercation between two groups at a gas station in April of this year, during which two Uzbek citizens were killed, according to "Khaleej Times".
Preliminary information suggests that the incident stemmed from a previous dispute. The victims had arrived at the gas station to check their car's tire pressure when the altercation began. A police officer nearby immediately reported the incident to the authorities.
Investigators found that the two groups arrived separately. One of the victims exited a red Mercedes to check the tire pressure and was attacked by a group of men. The second victim attempted to flee but was caught by another group and fatally assaulted.
Dubai Police responded quickly, searched the scene, and collected physical evidence left behind by those involved. Surveillance camera footage and eyewitness testimonies helped reconstruct the events.
A swift investigation led to the arrest of 11 individuals, including the main suspects, at a hotel in another emirate. During interrogation, the detainees admitted to being involved in the conflict and stated that it was fueled by prior personal disagreements.
Authorities confirmed that the participants had known each other beforehand and that the incident was the result of ongoing personal tensions. The case has now been handed over to the prosecutor’s office for further legal action.
Dubai Police emphasized that such violent incidents are rare and reaffirmed that the city remains one of the safest in the world.
It is worth noting that the UAE earlier reported that 15 Uzbek citizens had been detained in connection with this case. Officials also noted that the recent rise in violations involving Uzbek nationals could potentially impact the visa-free travel agreement between the two countries.
