On January 19, during the forty-ninth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the law easing punishment for employing drones was endorsed.

The session addressed the legislation titled "Amendments and Additions to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan related to the relaxation of penalties for specific categories of criminal offenses."

This law introduces a novel provision in the Code of Administrative Responsibility, outlining administrative consequences for the unlawful import, transfer, acquisition, storage, or utilization of unmanned aerial vehicles, along with their components and spare parts.

Specifically, the confiscation of illegally used drones falls under state control, and individuals voluntarily surrendering such devices, along with their components and spare parts, are absolved from liability. Cases involving criminal offenses of this nature will be adjudicated by criminal courts.

Furthermore, the penalties outlined in Article 244-4 of the Criminal Code include alternative fines, corrective labor, and freedom restrictions, signifying criminal culpability for offenses committed post-administrative penalties.

Senators officially approved the law.
