37232In December 2023, Niyoz Ibodov was arrested on charges of extortion during the "Dolzarb 40 days" events in Tashkent. QALAMPIR.UZ reported this based on a source.
Niyoz Ibodov, born in 1954, faced accusations under part 3 of Article 165 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, alongside 8 others at the time of his arrest.
He received a 4-year prison sentence under Article 165, Part 3, Subsection "a" of the Criminal Code, and Article 57 of the Criminal Code.
According to the document obtained by QALAMPIR.UZ, "Ibodov's sentence should be served in general order colonies, starting from December 17, 2023. He is to remain in custody as a precautionary measure."
Additionally, Niyoz Ibodov was identified as the founder of "Navoiy Avtosavdo" LLC.
Apart from Ibodov, several others also faced sentencing.
For instance, Bahodir Sultonov was sentenced to 10 years in prison under Article 165, Part 3, Subsection "a" of the Criminal Code. He was deemed a highly dangerous repeat offender according to Article 34, Part 3, Subsection "a" of the Criminal Code, having a history of multiple convictions.
It's worth noting that previously, Lutfulla Umarov, known as "Ziki Eskishahar," had also received his sentence.
