28938Entrepreneur Diyora Usmonova opened up about experiencing domestic violence during her first marriage to the late Bobur Usmonov, the nephew of billionaire Alisher Usmonov. She shared a video detailing her experience on her social media platform.
Diyora Usmonova revealed that she is speaking out about these incidents following her husband's passing because she hopes her story will inspire women enduring domestic violence to seek change.
"It encompasses my life from ages 21 to 25, with roots as early as 19. While our relationship was marked by intense love and passion, it was also marred by severe difficulties. Despite our efforts to salvage our marriage, my first husband began to resort to violence. These assaults persisted for four years, resulting in concussions, significant blood loss, and extensive bruising. My whole body was bruised, furniture, doors - everything was breaking," explained Usmonova.
She acknowledged that women are also responsible for the violence and abuse against them in society.
"Not all of the responsibility lies solely with men; women share 50 percent of it too. Our issue stems from undervaluing ourselves, lacking courage and strength, fearing repercussions, reluctance to confide in our parents, and hesitancy to start anew. We hope for positive change in the future, but it's largely our own doing. I vividly recall the first time he struck me, dragging me from the fifth floor to the first, and leaving me limping. He later kissed my feet, begging forgiveness. I consoled him, reassuring him that everything was fine, downplaying the severity of the situation. Looking back now, ten years later, I realize our failure to recognize the gravity of such abuse," says Diyora Usmonova.
According to her, women should terminate such relationships and summon the courage to leave.
"I could not find this strength in myself... However, I want to say that he (Babur Usmanov) was a wonderful person with an amazingly kind heart, which is rare in our time. It seems as if his kind heart and these truths are incompatible. For this reason, I could not understand how such a kind and noble person could torture me. Nevertheless, this is some kind of psychological deviation, a mental condition that needs to be treated, and we must protect our children from it. You should leave such a relationship. Because you forgive once, you forgive a second time, and then you realize that if it becomes a habit, it will end very badly or poison your whole life. I didn't have the strength then, and now, 10 years later, I look back and realize how many mistakes were made on my part, and how big my fault was. Just like him," says Usmonova.
Se also explained why she made these events public now. It is known that former Minister of National Economy Kuandik Bishimbayev is accused of murdering his wife Saltanat Nukenova in Kazakhstan, and the trial in this case is ongoing. According to Usmanova, she saw her life in the fate of Saltanat Nukenova.
"His life is gone, if my reputation is gone, let it go," Diyora Usmonova wrote.
