In Uzbekistan, the current fines for the chopping down, damaging, or transplanting of trees, shrubs and other plants and seedlings is being increased.  This has been stated in the law "On Amendments and Additions to the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan" which was discussed at the 40th plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis today, 3rd May.

In cases of repeated violations of these crimes, within one year of the original punishment, a period of imprisonment of up to 15 days will be applied.

At the same time, administrative responsibility was introduced in order to development project documents that lead to the cutting, felling, damage, or destruction of valuable species of trees and shrubs. Article 4 of the Administrative Liability Code provides for the illegal felling of trees or logging. Taking into consideration the varying number of fines and the disparity in theses articles, which all relate to the same administrative offense, officials have agreed to establish one single administrative offense that will account for all.  Senators have approved the law.
