A tourism complex, including a hotel, restaurant, recreation, and entertainment facilities, will be established around the Chortoq reservoir in the Namangan region. This was announced today, September 16, at a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the socio-economic development of the region.

It was noted that within the framework of the World Bank’s urban development project, the ’’Furqat’’ park will be reconstructed this year, with its territory nearly doubling in size. In addition, 11 kilometers of pedestrian and bicycle eco-paths will be built along the Chortoqsoy River.

As part of the accelerated comprehensive development program, 7 kilometers of the banks of the Chortoqsoy river and the Katta Namangan canal will be reinforced with concrete, turning 30 hectares of land into usable space.

Large service facilities of a sanatorium type will be built here, in harmony with the existing orchards. Around the Chortoq reservoir, a tourism complex will also be established, including a hotel, restaurant, recreation, and entertainment facilities.

Another major project will be the construction of a large tourism complex around Lake Arashan in the Pop district, covering 1,200 hectares and designed to host 1 million tourists annually.

To train specialists for such major tourism projects, starting from the next academic year, a joint faculty will be established at Namangan State University in cooperation with Krems University of Austria.

Earlier, it was reported that a new destination capable of accommodating at least 600 tourists would be established around the Ohangaron reservoir in the Tashkent region.
