In Uzbekistan, an online tracking system (GPS) will be installed on vehicles used for waste transportation. This was outlined in the Presidential order "Measures to Further Improve the Transparent Management System in the Fields of Ecology and Environmental Protection," adopted on September 26.

The decree, which will take effect on January 1, 2026, introduces several measures, including:

  • Setting up an online waiting list for potential tenders to facilitate the implementation of waste-related services.
  • Installing cleaning and protection systems at waste collection stations, including video surveillance cameras.
  • Equipping all waste transport vehicles with an online tracking (GPS) system.
  • Establishing a "Call Center" for sanitation enterprises to provide complete information, ensure quality cleaning services, and handle cleaning requests.
  • Defining the geographical service boundaries for sanitation enterprises and ensuring the cleaning of waste collection sites (containers) connected to businesses and legal entities.
  • Maintaining a schedule for waste removal services based on subscriber-produced waste amounts.

As a reminder, the creation of the Waste Management and Circular Economy Development Agency was recently announced. This agency will be responsible for implementing waste management standards, testing, protecting, and managing waste-related activities.
