The number of Uzbeks working abroad has been revealed

The number of labor migrants from Uzbekistan to different countries is more than 2 million.  1.5 million of them are in Russia.  It was announced yesterday, 13 December at a press conference held by the Foreign Labor Migration Agency at the Information and Mass Communications Agency.

"We have information about citizens participating in labor migration.  Information about labor migrants is formed based on only three sources.  These are: surveys, administrative sources - exit or entry from border areas, scientific analyzes and population census," says Azim Akhmatov, head of the Foreign Labor Migration Agency.

According to officials, the ability to quickly update information on the number of citizens engaged in labor migration abroad, especially daily, is limited.

It is noted that according to the results of the first quarter of 2022, the analysis of all sources shows that there are 2 million 346 thousand Uzbeks working abroad.  Even after calculating this number, about 400,000 Uzbeks returned to the country.

It is noted that 1.5 million Uzbeks have official jobs in Russia.  Also, 200,000 citizens are engaged in informal work.  In South Korea, this figure is 64 thousand to 13 thousand, respectively.
