Skier Chimyon died under piles of snow

A 61-year-old Russian skier died in an avalanche in Chimyon region.  This was reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

It is noted that on 4 January 2023, at 1:20 p.m., a 61-year-old citizen of the Russian Federation, who was on a skiing holiday on the slopes of Chimyon, Bostonliq district, despite warnings about the risk of avalanches, skied in a prohibited area which was in risk of an avalanche.  As a result, he was trapped under piles of snow and died.

The rescuers of the Chimyon rescue squad of the Specialized Multidisciplinary Department of the Bostonliq district of the Emergency Situations Department of the Tashkent region immediately arrived at the scene of the incident. During the search, the body of the skier was pulled out from under the piles of snow.

"The Ministry of Emergency Situations asks all vacationers to observe technical safety rules, to refrain from skiing in prohibited areas and to take precautionary measures," the MES said.
