A chief specialist of the State Cadastre Chamber's branch in Gijduvan district, Bukhara region, has been detained for accepting a bribe in exchange for promising land allocation. The incident was reported by the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office.

According to the report, an operational operation was carried out jointly with the Gijduvan district department of the agency and the State Property Tax Service. During the operation, the official—identified as A.I.—was caught red-handed while receiving $2,000 in advance from citizen U.Zh.

The official allegedly claimed that five acres of land located in the “Bobur” neighborhood were part of the district khokimiyat's reserve. He promised to prepare cadastral documents in the citizen’s name in exchange for $4,000.

A criminal case has been initiated against the individual under Articles 25 and 168 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, which deal with attempted fraud. An investigation is currently underway.

It should be noted that a similar case was recently reported in the Altynsay district of Surkhandarya region, where a cadastral officer was caught accepting a bribe of 300 million soums from a citizen after agreeing to sell a state-reserved land plot for 1.1 billion soums.
