Prosecutor General’s Office warned Uzbeks abroad

The hiring of Uzbek citizens into the armed forces of foreign States will be considered the citizen's fault.  The Office of the Procurator-General of Uzbekistan issued such a warning to citizens abroad.

According to the Office of the Procurator-General, according to article 154, paragraph 1, of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the recruitment of a person, that is, a person who is not considered a citizen or a member of a conflicting state, recruitment of persons outside the armed forces of any state to participate in an armed conflict or hostilities in the territory of another State or on its territory, in order to obtain financial or another personal benefit, the benefit is punished by imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years.  

Under article 154-1 of the Criminal Code, the admission of a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan to military service, security, police, military justice or other similar authority of foreign States will result in punishment by correctional work up to 3 years, and also to impose the citizens imprisonment from 5 to 10 years.

"Accordingly, we call on our compatriots in foreign countries not to join the armed forces, not to take part in hostilities, and once again warn that such actions will entail criminal responsibility", - said the Prosecutor General’s Office.

It should be recalled that today 21 September, a partial military mobilization has been announced in Russia.  Since then, calls for demonstrations have been heard throughout the country.
