4295The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul has issued a cautionary notice to Uzbek citizens regarding the importation of tobacco products into Turkey.
The advisory follows an increase in legal cases against individuals accused of "smuggling" due to exceeding the allowed quantity of tobacco products. Currently, over 20 Uzbek citizens are reportedly imprisoned in Turkey for such violations.
For personal use, passengers aged 18 and older may bring:
- 600 cigarettes (30 packs or 3 blocks).
- 50 cigars.
Turkish law permits the following:
- 10 disposable e-cigarettes.
- 1 reusable e-cigarette device.
- 200 replacement stickers or 30 ml of liquid.
The import of tobacco products for commercial purposes is strictly prohibited.
The Consulate General advises travelers to:
- Ensure fines imposed by Turkish authorities for excess tobacco imports are canceled in official records after payment to avoid detention at border crossings.
- Familiarize themselves with Turkey's customs regulations before traveling.
- Avoid bringing products that exceed the legal limits.
The warning serves as a reminder for Uzbeks traveling to Turkey to comply with customs laws and prevent unnecessary legal complications.
