In 2022, 136 new polyclinics will be opened in Uzbekistan, and a further 140 are planned to open in 2023. This was stated by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev today, 18 March, during a meeting with medical personnel.
It was noted that from 2023, 1100 family doctor offices will be created within the branches of district polyclinics. Thus, about 1 million people will be covered by health services.
In addition, health centers will be opened in more than 2,000 remote and suburban locations. They will provide primary health care to 4 million people in remote areas.
From 2021, doctors coming from other locations to work in hard-to-reach and remote areas for at least three years are provided with a lump-sum bonus of 30 million som, an office house or paid rent (540 thousand soms per month) from the state budget.
The program «Rural doctor» will be intensified and from May 1, 2022:
- an additional 2 million sum will be paid to doctors working in remote areas;
- these doctors will be reimbursed up to 50% of the purchase price of housing in mortgages from local budgets;
- a doctor who has worked three years in a row in a remote and difficult-to-reach area will now be admitted to clinical residency without an examination.
“Another issue is that, as is known, the change of climate and lifestyle (minimal lifestyle, inadequate nutrition) increases the number of diseases of the nervous system, cardiovascular system and diabetes in the world.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of patients with such diseases are registered in our country. However, due to the lack of inpatient departments in district hospitals, patients have to address regional and republican hospitals», – the President said.
Access to specialized health care for these diseases will now be expanded at the community level.
In particular, in 2022, 10 percent of beds in district central hospitals will be allocated to neurology, endocrinology, cardiology and will be financed from the budget. This figure will reach 20 percent in 2023.
