Turkmen leader Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov to visit Uzbekistan for high-level talks

At the invitation of Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, will visit Samarkand on April 23-24, 2025. The announcement was made by the Presidential Press Service.
The upcoming discussions will focus on strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Key topics include expanding multifaceted cooperation in areas such as politics, inter-parliamentary relations, trade and economy, transport and communication, and cultural-humanitarian ties. Additionally, the leaders will exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual importance.
On April 21, Berdimuhamedov traveled to Kazakhstan, where he was welcomed at Turkistan Airport by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Together, they visited the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, a significant cultural and historical landmark of the Turkic world.
On April 22, Berdimuhamedov held an informal meeting with Tokayev, where they discussed expanding cooperation in the gas sector, particularly Kazakhstan’s potential involvement in the Galkynysh gas field development project alongside foreign partners.
Following his visit to Kazakhstan, Berdimuhamedov traveled to Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan, where he was greeted by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov at the airport.
