Reports have surfaced on social media claiming that a 4-year-old girl was electrocuted after entering a transformer station in Uzbekistan's Andijan region. The Andijan regional branch of “Regional Electric Networks” JSC has issued an official response regarding the incident.
According to the report, the incident occurred on July 13 at transformer station No. 161, which has a voltage of 35/0.4 kV and a capacity of 1,000 kVA. The transformer station is located in the basement of an apartment building in New Andijan, within the Andijan district.
At the time of the incident, the girl's cat reportedly slipped through a crack in the basement door and entered the transformer station. The station was under high voltage, and the cat’s entry caused a short circuit. While observing from outside the door, the child was injured by the resulting flash and sustained burns to her face.
Emergency medical assistance was provided on the scene, and the girl was taken to the hospital. Officials report that her condition is now stable.
This incident follows a previous electrocution case at Poytug railway station in Andijan region, where a foreign citizen was fatally injured after entering the station grounds and climbing into an empty tanker car on the second track.
