On June 24, a video circulated on social media showing a man in the city of Andijan threatening motorcyclists with a knife at a traffic light. The Andijan Regional Department of Internal Affairs has responded to the incident.

According to the report, the perpetrator was identified as a 28-year-old resident of Andijan, born in 1995.

“Yesterday at about 11 o’clock, I went to a bar, drank two glasses of beer, had a shish kebab, and got a little drunk. I picked up a knife that was lying nearby and hailed a taxi. I then threatened motorcyclists with the knife, asking why they were driving so fast. I sincerely ask the people of Uzbekistan to forgive me. I regret it a thousand times,” the man said in a recorded statement.

The investigation revealed that between 01:00 and 03:00 on the night of June 24, the same individual also threatened the taxi driver he had hailed, refused to pay the fare, and stole 100,000 soums from him.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Article 112 (Threat to murder or violence) and Part 1 of Article 169 (Theft) of the Criminal Code. The suspect has been detained as a preventive measure. The case is currently under the supervision of the Andijan Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
