Market stall collapses onto vendor in Andijan (video)

Reports circulated on social media that a market stall collapsed onto people at a clothing market in the Khojaobod District of Andijan Region. The Khojaobod District administration has issued an official statement regarding the incident.

According to the statement, the incident occurred at around 11:00 a.m. on December 21 at the local goods market in Khojaobod District. The collapse was caused by a stall that had been makeshift and failed to meet safety requirements. In addition, the upper part of the stall had been overloaded with excessively heavy winter clothing.

As a result of the incident, one entrepreneur who had allowed these safety violations sustained bodily injuries and was taken to hospital, where he received prompt and qualified medical assistance.

“At present, the injured entrepreneur’s condition is stable. No other victims have been identified. The causes of the incident are being investigated,” the official statement said.
