16-year-old girl subjected to vigilante-style humiliation in Andijan (video)

On May 7, a group of women in Andijan Region subjected a 16-year-old girl to vigilante-style humiliation. The regional Department of Internal Affairs reported this.

According to the report, a dispute arose between a girl born in 2010 and living in Asaka district and a woman born in 1997 and living in Shahrihon district over comments left under a post on Instagram. The disagreement later escalated into insults and an argument.

“Because a girl I knew wrote an insulting comment under my Instagram post, I wrote to her in private messages. I told her that if she had anything to say to me, she should write to me privately so we could talk. Then we had a bit of an argument there. She called me herself and invited me. That is why I agreed to go, so we could talk. We talked, and she came to that place of her own will. I did not take her money or jewellery, and I did not beat her or cause her bodily harm. Later, we came to an agreement,” one of the participants in the incident said.

After that, at around 2:30 p.m., the girl born in 2010, her classmate, and the woman born in 1997 went with several acquaintances to a hilly area located on the border between Asaka and Marhamat districts. There, the minor was insulted, forced to apologise, and the process was recorded on video.

Authorities said a pre-investigation inquiry is currently being conducted by the Marhamat District Department of Internal Affairs. Measures are being taken to give a legal assessment to the actions of those involved in the incident.

Earlier, minor girls were also subjected to vigilante-style humiliation in Bukhara Region.
