29625The unified driving examination center in Tashkent has announced an increase in the cost of theoretical and practical exams as of 1 April of the current year.
It was noted that in order to maintain a high level of quality and service, the cost of the first attempt to pass theoretical and practical examinations at the Tashkent examination center will be increased to 150,000 som (now 100,000 sum). This is due to the unstable economic situation in key partner countries, which has led to a change in the currency exchange rate, which accelerated inflation in Uzbekistan.
Economist-blogger Shuhrat Kurbanov says that the increase in exam prices is understandable, but he does not understand what the jump in exchange rates has to do with the economic situation in partner countries.
« Are tests imported? What does the price increase have to do with road safety? »
Another economist, Otabek Bakirov, also expressed dissatisfaction.
“Where did Allamjanov and his team come up with the idea of 50 percent inflation or 50 percent growth in the dollar exchange rate in Uzbekistan? Well, maybe they look into the future and make predictions. But how are exam tests related to the dollar exchange rate?
As you can see, although they don’t want to admit it, the project is all about making money, earning a fund without leaving a choice, and if this project has anything to do with traffic safety, it’s the last thing you need, »-Bakirov said.
He also noted that the Antimonopoly Committee should assess the actions of the monopolist which was disguised as Tashkent examination center from the point of view of the current legislation».
The Unified Examination Center (Tashkent Examination Center, Ministry of Foreign Affairs) opened on 3 February current year, is the first in Uzbekistan to provide State services for theoretical and practical examinations for obtaining a driver’s license as a business entity.
