14307Three more individuals implicated in the assassination of Kamil Allamjonov, a former official in Uzbekistan's Presidential Administration, have been identified and arrested. The General Prosecutor's Office confirmed the arrests.
The General Prosecutor's Office is actively investigating the assassination attempt, which occurred in Kibray district.
Details of the attack on Allamjonov
On October 26, at approximately 1:40 a.m., a Range Rover driven by a citizen, S.S., was traveling along Ifor Street in Kibray district when two unidentified individuals opened fire on the vehicle multiple times before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, no one was injured.
In response, the General Prosecutor's Office launched a criminal case under Articles 25, 97 (Attempted murder), and 248 (Illegal handling of firearms, ammunition, main parts of firearms, explosives, or explosive devices) of the Criminal Code. An investigative team was established, comprising personnel from the Prosecutor General's Office, as well as the Tashkent regional, city, military, and transport prosecutor’s offices. The team includes members from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Tashkent's internal affairs department, and the Customs Committee.
On October 27, the General Prosecutor's Office announced that one suspect had been apprehended following extensive investigative and search efforts.
For information, Kamil Allamjonov was born on September 18, 1984, in Tashkent. He began his career with the "Davr" information program on Uzbekistan’s National Television and Radio Company’s "Yoshlar" channel. He gained recognition as head of the Press Service of the State Tax Committee from 2005 to 2013. From December 1, 2017, to October 3, 2018, he served as Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration and Press Secretary to the President of Uzbekistan.
On November 29, 2018, Allamjonov was appointed Director of the Information and Mass Communications Agency. In January 2020, he transitioned to Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Public Fund for Support and Development of National Mass Media. In July 2022, he was named Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, and in August 2023, he took on the role of Head of the Department of Information Policy, where he served until September 2024.
