A criminal case has been launched following the attempted assassination of Komil Allamjonov, a former official of Uzbekistan’s Presidential Administration. The General Prosecutor's Office reported the incident.

The attack occurred today, October 26, at 1:40 a.m. on Ifor Street in the Kibrai district, where two unidentified individuals opened fire multiple times on a Range Rover driven by citizen S.S. The assailants fled the scene, and no injuries were reported.

In response, a criminal case was initiated under Article 25.97 of the Criminal Code (Attempted Murder).

"To identify and apprehend the suspects, operational search activities are underway. An investigative team of qualified personnel from relevant agencies is being formed, and investigative efforts are ongoing," stated the General Prosecutor's Office.

Komil Allamjonov was born on September 18, 1984, in Tashkent. His career began with the informative program "Davr" on the "Yoshlar" television and radio channel of Uzbekistan’s National Television and Radio Company.

He went on to serve as head of the Press Service of the State Tax Committee from 2005 to 2013. Between December 1, 2017, and October 3, 2018, he held the position of Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, serving as the President’s press secretary.

On November 29, 2018, Allamjonov was appointed director of the Information and Mass Communications Agency. In January 2020, he became chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Public Fund for Support and Development of National Mass Media. In July 2022, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration and, in August 2023, head of the Administration’s Information Policy Department, a position he held until September 2024.

Allamjonov previously stated that after stepping down from his role as head of the Information Policy Department, he intended to continue his career in the private sector.
