Saint Louis chess club thanks Tokhirjonova for her contributions

The Saint Louis Chess Club and the World Chess Hall of Fame have expressed their appreciation for Uzbek grandmaster Gulruhbegim Tokhirjonova, who recently transferred her chess federation back to Uzbekistan after competing for the United States national team for several years. The "UzChess" project press service reported this development.

"It is very difficult for us to announce this. Due to personal reasons, Gulruhbegim Tohirjonova has decided to transfer her federation to her native Uzbekistan. This news was announced at a press conference in Uzbekistan. We express our gratitude to Begim for her great contribution to the Saint Louis Chess Club and the World Chess Hall of Fame during her time playing for the US team. We appreciate her dedication, hard work, and positive attitude and will miss her. We wish Begim great success in her future chess career!" the Saint Louis Chess Club stated.

On February 12, Tokhirjonova officially became a member of the Uzbekistan Chess Federation, marking her return to the Uzbekistan women's national team for international competitions.

Previously, it was reported that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev personally welcomed Tokhirjonova’s return to Uzbekistan. During their conversation, the head of state expressed his joy at her decision to represent her home country once again.
