Uzbekistan forbids governors and ministers to overspend

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed all authorities and ministries to eliminate excessive expenditure. The Prosecutor General’s Office will monitor this. The Head of State made such a statement today, 31 March, during a video-conference devoted to macroeconomic stability, the development of regions and industries in connection with the difficult situation in the world economy, improving the well-being of the population.

The President instructed the heads of the economic complex to continue effective measures to maintain macroeconomic stability.
This would require a reduction in regional and network costs of 10 trillion som.

The president instructed all authorities, ministries and departments to suspend the following until the end of the year:

- starting construction with uncertain sources of financing;
- incur additional expenses, such as renovation of a building, purchase of cars, furniture, office equipment.

The General Prosecutor’s Office has been instructed to establish systematic control over the prevention of these expenditures in budget organizations and to report weekly to the President on the regions.

“This does not mean that the funds will be withdrawn. All the savings will be directed to the development program of the region and industry», –Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
