Afghanistan and Uzbekistan sign a preferential trade deal

Nuriddin Azizi, Acting Minister of Industry and Trade in the Taliban-led interim government of Afghanistan, signed a preferential trade agreement with Uzbek Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Laziz Kudratov on the sidelines of the International Investment Forum in Tashkent. The development was reported by Tolo News.

According to the report, the agreement aims to reduce customs duties between the two countries, thereby facilitating trade and strengthening bilateral economic relations.

In addition, the two sides signed a joint Afghanistan–Uzbekistan work plan covering cooperation in the fields of trade, industry, and agriculture.

“The signing of these documents is considered an important step towards supporting the private sector, encouraging investment, expanding regional trade, and strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries,” the report stated.

It should be recalled that earlier, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Nuriddin Azizi during his visit to the Tashkent International Investment Forum. The two discussed prospects for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in trade and the economy, as well as in the fields of transport and logistics, energy, agriculture, geology, exploration, and mining.
