Afghanistan has significantly reduced the fees imposed on Uzbek truck drivers operating within its territory, lowering them by 6,500 Afghanis (approximately 99 US dollars). This update was reported by the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan.

Efforts are being made to enhance Uzbekistan's export and import cargo transportation through Afghanistan, reduce levies and payments involved in international road transport, and create favorable conditions for Uzbek carriers.

For instance, the fee for crossing the Amudarya Bridge, which was previously set at 12,000 Afghanis (about 182 US dollars), was reduced to 7,000 Afghanis (approximately 106 US dollars) as of September 28.

Additionally, the entry fee for cargo vehicles into Afghanistan, previously 5,000 Afghanis (around 76 US dollars), has been lowered to 3,500 Afghanis (about 53 US dollars).

"Its ongoing efforts to create favorable conditions for cargo transportation through the Trans-Afghan multimodal transport corridor and to optimize related charges," the report states.

It is also worth noting that during a recent meeting in Kabul between Uzbekistan's Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Taliban’s interim government, the Preferential Trade Agreement between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan was confirmed to commence on October 1.
