Today, starting from 1 February, operations on the Afghan railway have been suspended.  “Uzbekistan Railways” Joint-Stock Company gave information about this in its appeal to entrepreneurs who transport goods to Afghanistan by rail.

It is noted that during the negotiations held in the city of Termiz between 26-30 December 2022, it was agreed to draw up a new contract for the use of the Galaba-Hayraton railway until 27 January 2023, and the relevant protocol was signed.  Also, during the meeting, the list of tasks to be performed by the parties was resolved bilaterally.

However, it was announced that the use of the Hayraton-Mazari Sharif railway will be temporarily suspended due to the inability of the Afghan Railways to implement these measures in time.

For information, the Hayraton-Mazari Sharif railway in Afghanistan was built in 2010.
