Adiz Boboev, who has served as acting governor of the Samarkand region for the past year, has been officially confirmed as the regional governor. His candidacy was approved today, 25 November, during an extraordinary session of the Samarkand Regional Council of People’s Deputies held in Urgut district with the participation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

“We are setting major goals and plans to elevate human dignity and improve public welfare by ensuring sustainable economic growth. To organize this work, the region needs a leader who thinks modernly, is capable of systematically analyzing problems, and can provide innovative solutions,” the president stated.

President Mirziyoyev recommended Adiz Boboev for the post of regional governor.

After hearing remarks from regional representatives regarding the candidate, the issue of his appointment was put to a vote. Based on the voting results, Adiz Boboev was confirmed as governor of the region.

The president emphasized that the newly appointed governor must turn Samarkand into a model region by creating jobs, reducing poverty, increasing investment and exports, lowering production costs, and improving energy efficiency.

For reference, Adiz Boboev was born in 1972 and graduated from the Tashkent State University of Economics. He began his career as a first-category economist at the Bukhara Regional Finance Department and later worked as a leading economist in the department of anti-monopoly and price policy, as well as in other positions. He also served as head of the revenue forecasting department of the Executive Directorate of the Republican Road Fund under the Ministry of Finance, deputy head of the consolidated budget revenues planning and analysis department of the State Budget Main Directorate, and held several other positions within the Finance Ministry.

It is worth noting that on 28 November 2024, Adiz Muzaffarovich Boboev was appointed acting governor of the Samarkand region by a presidential decree.
