Abdullah II receives ceremonial welcome in Samarkand

At the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, King Abdullah II ibn al-Hussein of Jordan is paying a state visit to Samarkand. On August 26, the main events of the visit began with an official welcoming ceremony for the Jordanian leader, the presidential press service reported.
An honor guard was lined up in front of the Congress Center building, where President Mirziyoyev warmly greeted the guest of honor and invited him to the podium. A military orchestra performed the national anthems of both countries. The two leaders then walked past the honor guard and greeted members of the official delegation.

The summit agenda includes strengthening political, trade, economic, and investment cooperation, as well as building ties in the chemical, pharmaceutical, agricultural, textile, and mining industries. Expanding cultural and humanitarian exchanges and discussing current regional and international issues are also on the agenda. The talks are expected to conclude with the signing of several bilateral agreements.

King Abdullah II arrived in Samarkand on August 25. He was met at the airport by President Mirziyoyev. Later, the two leaders toured the city’s renowned historical monuments and, in the evening, visited the Immortal City historical and ethnographic complex at the Samarkand International Tourism Center.
