6881The man responsible for the murder of a 3-year-old boy in Tashkent has been sentenced to 24 years in prison. The court proceedings were reported by a QALAMPIR.UZ journalist who was present in the courtroom.
On November 29, 2023, the case was heard at the Mirzo Ulugbek District Court for Criminal Cases, under the presiding judge S. Abduganiyev. The prosecutor had requested a life sentence for the defendant.
The court found S.M. guilty of multiple charges, including those specified in Article 97, Part 2, Subparagraphs "v" and "j", Articles 25 and 97, Part 2, Subparagraphs "b", "g", "j", "r", Article 219, Part 2, and Article 251-1, Part 3 of the Criminal Code. The defendant was sentenced to 24 years of imprisonment, with the first four years to be served in prison and the remainder in a strict regime colony, as per Article 59 of the Criminal Code.
Both the defense and prosecution have been informed that they have the right to file an appeal or protest the verdict by the law, within the time frame set by the judicial panel of the Tashkent City Court.
The tragic incident occurred on July 9, 2023, in the Yashnabad district of Tashkent. The defendant, born in 1993, quarreled with a woman he was cohabiting with, and in the course of the argument, he inflicted multiple stab wounds on her 3-year-old son from a previous marriage. After the attack, the defendant fled the scene. Despite efforts to save the child, he died before reaching the hospital.
The defendant, identified as S.M., born in 1993 in the Fergana region and with a prior criminal record, was arrested following the murder. He was charged with crimes under Articles 97, 25, 97, 219, and 251-1 of the Criminal Code.
