A 29-year-old man was arrested in the Dustlik district of Jizzakh region while attempting to traffic a 23-year-old woman to Russia for prostitution. He has since been convicted and sentenced by the court, according to Aziz Obidov, press secretary of the Supreme Court.

The suspect, who did not personally know the woman, was caught in the act of trying to send her abroad. The case was reviewed by the Dustlik District Criminal Court.

“I confess my guilt and deeply regret my actions. I am the sole breadwinner in my family. My wife is pregnant, and I have a minor child. I ask the court for leniency,” the man pleaded during the trial.

The court found him guilty under Article 135, Part 1 (Human Trafficking) of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to three years and six months of restricted liberty.

It is worth noting that in a separate case, a woman was previously detained at Tashkent International Airport for attempting to send two girls abroad for prostitution.
