Leaders of over 20 countries to meet in China in late August

At this year’s Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, to be held in Tianjin, China, more than 20 heads of state and leaders of over 10 international organizations are expected to participate. This was announced at a press briefing by Liu Bin, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China (at the level of deputy minister).

"The President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping will meet with the leaders of more than 20 foreign states and 10 international organizations on the banks of the Haihe River. He will review the successful experience of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), promote its development and structural renewal, and unite its members for cooperation and joint action", the diplomat said.

He emphasized that the following participants will attend the summit:

  1. Russian President Vladimir Putin

  2. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko

  3. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi

  4. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian

  5. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev

  6. Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov

  7. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif

  8. Tajik President Emomali Rahmon

  9. Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev

  10. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev

  11. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan

  12. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet

  13. Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu

  14. Nepali Prime Minister Sharma Oli

  15. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan

  16. Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly

  17. Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov

  18. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto

  19. Laotian President Thongloun Sisoulith

  20. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim

  21. Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh

The heads of international organizations and multilateral mechanisms, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, have also been invited to the event.

The SCO summit will be held in Tianjin (Northern China) from August 31 to September 1.
