A 53-year-old woman was arrested at Tashkent International Airport for attempting to send three girls—aged 31, 23, and 18—to Thailand for the purpose of prostitution. This was reported by the Samarkand Regional Department of Internal Affairs.
According to the report, a woman residing in Tashkent had formed a criminal group and persuaded financially vulnerable young women to travel abroad under the pretense of earning a living. It was quickly discovered that she planned to send them to Thailand for prostitution and sexual exploitation.
As a result of an operational search conducted by the Samarkand Regional Department of Internal Affairs in cooperation with the State Security Service at Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport, the 53-year-old woman was detained with material evidence as she attempted to send the three women to Thailand.
Reportedly, the woman’s 53-year-old associate in Thailand had agreed to receive the girls and arrange employment for them, on the condition that \$5,000 be sent in advance and that they work as prostitutes for three months to repay the cost.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 135 of the Criminal Code (human trafficking), and the suspect has been taken into custody in accordance with procedural law.
It should be noted that earlier, another woman was detained at Tashkent International Airport for attempting to traffic Uzbek women to Turkey under the false promise of high-paying jobs.
