From 1 May, the construction of buildings and structures with high seismic safety requirements in Uzbekistan will be carried out only by enterprises with “A” and “B” categories in the electronic rating of construction and contracting organizations.  This was announced yesterday, 5 April, at a meeting held in the presence of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

It is reported that half of the 3,000 enterprises producing reinforced concrete, which affects the quality of constructions in Uzbekistan, do not have laboratories.  Last year, more than 1,000 cases of poor quality of reinforced concrete, wall structures and welding work were identified in housing construction.

Therefore, officials were instructed to approve the “roadmap” for the establishment of modern laboratories in all reinforced concrete enterprises.

Seismic activity has been observed both in the world and in the region in recent months.  Therefore, from 1 May:

•    Before the start of construction, it is mandatory to carry out an engineering-geological expertise on the selected land plots;
•    Construction of buildings with high seismic safety requirements, such as bridges, tunnels, high-rise buildings, is carried out only by enterprises with “A” and “B” categories in the electronic rating of construction and contracting organizations.

It was noted at the meeting that the recent rainfall has clearly shown that the drainage system of the cities is in a bad condition.  The Ministry of Construction and Tashkent city administration were instructed to adopt and implement a program on the solution of this issue within two weeks.
