Uzbek central defender Abdukodir Khusanov is set to become the most expensive player in both "Lens" history and Asian football if his transfer to "Manchester City" is finalized.
The French club Lens is nearing an agreement to sell Khusanov to "Manchester City" during the winter transfer window. Reports indicate that "Manchester City" is willing to pay 50 million euros for the player. If the deal is completed, Khusanov will break the club's record transfer fee. Currently, the highest transfer fee in Lens history is 40 million euros, paid by Leipzig for Louis Open.
Khusanov was signed by Lens from "Energetik-BGU" in 2023 for just 100,000 euros. If the transfer to "Manchester City" goes through, he will also become the most expensive player in Asian football history. At present, the record holder is South Korea’s Kim Min-jae, who was transferred from "Napoli" to "Bayern" Munich in 2023 for 50 million euros.
Additionally, it has been reported that "Manchester City" manager Pep Guardiola has approved the transfer of the Uzbek defender.
