On January 7, in the 21st round of the English Premier League, Manchester City drew 1–1 at home against Brighton. After the match, Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola praised the performances of debutant Max Alleyne and Uzbekistan national team player Abdukodir Husanov.
“They played very well. Husanov was excellent. He helped us a lot at the back with long passes. Abdukodir still needs to develop, play more matches, and fully express himself. Today, he was the best player on the pitch,” Guardiola said.
In the match, Alleyne, who had been recalled from loan earlier in the week, partnered Husanov in central defense. Erling Haaland opened the scoring in the 40th minute with a well-taken penalty, while Kaoru Mitoma equalized in the 60th minute to secure a draw. As a result, Manchester City were forced to settle for a draw for the third consecutive match.
For reference, Pep Guardiola’s side currently sit second in the Premier League standings with 43 points, five points behind leaders Arsenal.
