Hasanboy Dusmatov could potentially challenge for the World Boxing Association (WBA) title following his performance as a mandatory contender during a professional boxing event held in Australia.

In the event, WBA minimum weight champion Tammanun Niyomtrong, a 33-year-old from Thailand, defended his title against Australian boxer Alex Windwood. Windwood, 27, had the opportunity to become a world champion in just his fifth professional bout, but Niyomtrong secured the victory with scores of 114-112, 114-112, and 113-113.

This defense marked Niyomtrong's 12th successful title defense, having held the WBA belt since winning it in 2016.

The WBA had officially mandated a bout between champion Tammanun Niyomtrong and mandatory challenger Hasanboy Dusmatov in the spring. However, Dusmatov's team requested to schedule the fight post-Paris Olympics, which was granted.

Official announcements regarding the bout between Dusmatov and Niyomtrong are expected to be made soon.
