On December 15, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva discussed issues related to ensuring the protection of women’s and children’s rights with relevant officials. She announced this on her Telegram channel.
“We were the first country in Central Asia to adopt a law against domestic violence. We also strengthened liability for sexual crimes committed against children. However, this is not enough. It is necessary to develop an effective system for taking prompt action against cases of violence,” Mirziyoyeva said.

According to her, the real situation often remains invisible, with many cases concealed.
“We are still afraid to disclose statistics, to face reproach, to lose our reputation, and we struggle to accept criticism,” the Head of the Presidential Administration noted.

It was reported that during the meeting held on December 15, officials discussed pressing issues such as ensuring the protection of women’s and children’s rights, combating violence against them, the causes of early pregnancy, and measures to prevent it.

“I urge all responsible officials to draw the necessary conclusions from today’s discussion. An uncompromising fight against all forms of violence and the effective protection of the rights and interests of women and children must be demonstrated in practice, not just in words. A human life is a thousand times more important than statistics,” Saida Mirziyoyeva said.
