200 18-meter buses will be bought for Tashkent city public transport.  This was stated in the decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev "On measures to reform the public transport system" signed yesterday, 16 February.]

According to the decision:

  • the system of organizing and financing the transportation of passengers based on a gross contract based on limited tariffs on city bus routes will be gradually introduced;
  • Settlements with carriers are made based on the criteria of "traveled path" and "quality";
  • the practice of setting the daily fare collection plan assignment will be cancelled;
  • An automated dispatching management and control system will be established to monitor the fulfillment of route indicators by carriers, to determine and evaluate the volume and quality of the work performed, and to control the payment of fares and the quality of the provided services.

Step-by-step introduction of a new network of bus routes, automated payment system, and automated dispatch service in cities:

  • Until 1 March 2023 - in the city of Tashkent;
  • Until 1 August 2023 - in the cities of Andijan, Samarkand, Namangan, Karshi, and Urganch;
  • Until 1 June 2024 - it will be launched in the city of Nukus and the centers of other regions.

  • From 15 April 2023 - in the city of Tashkent;
  • From 1 January 2024 - in the cities of Andijan, Samarkand, Namangan, Karshi, and Urganch;
  • From 1 June 2024 - it will be launched in the city of Nukus and the centers of other regions.

For information, regarding the procurement of 200 18-meter and 500 12-meter natural gas-powered buses and 300 12-meter electric buses for the public transport of Tashkent city, a total of 1000 natural gas-powered buses for the public transport of the city of Nukus and regional centers agreements have been reached.
