Cases of illegal land sales have been uncovered in Jizzakh, Surkhandarya, and Tashkent regions, the State Security Service reported.
Specifically, the head of a branch of the State Cadastre Chamber in one of the districts of the Jizzakh region sold a 42-acre plot of land, allocated on a lease basis in the name of his spouse, to a buyer without the right to sell. He later demanded $28,000 from the buyer to officially process the cadastre documents through his contacts in local authorities. During a prompt operation, he was caught in possession of the requested money along with material evidence.
A 1974-born resident of the Kumkorghan district of the Surkhandarya region attempted to sell a 40-acre plot of land, illegally occupied by him but originally reserved by the Jarkurgon district administration, to a buyer for 200 million soums in collusion with a cadastre engineer from the Jarkurgon district branch of the State Cadastre Chamber. They agreed to officially process the cadastre documents for 4 million soums. Both individuals were stopped at the moment they received the agreed-upon payments.
In the Tashkent region, in the Bustanlyk district, the head of one of the neighborhood citizens’ assemblies demanded $150,000 to officially register a private residential plot of 15 acres, belonging to another person, along with an adjoining 1.35-hectare state-reserved land, in the buyer’s name through his official contacts. He was caught in the act after receiving an advance payment of $50,000.
Criminal cases have now been opened against the individuals involved, and investigative actions are ongoing.
It is worth noting that earlier, a farmer was caught attempting to sell an 18-acre plot of land for $25,000 in the Samarkand region.
