Uzhydromet issues urgent warning: Risk of mudslides and floods from June 6 to 9

The Center of Hydrometeorological Services (Uzhydromet) has issued an urgent warning regarding potential mudslides and floods expected between June 6 and 9 in the foothill and mountainous regions of Uzbekistan due to anticipated rainfall.

According to the forecast, the following areas are at risk of mudslides:

  • Kashkadarya region: Yakkabog, Dehqonobod, Chiroqchi, Kitob, Shahrisabz, Kamashi, Guzar districts;
  • Surkhandarya region: Sariosiyo, Uzun, Oltinsoy, Denov, Boysun, Sherobad, Shorchi, Kumkurgan, Muzrobot districts;
  • Samarkand region: Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurobod, Qoshrabot, Kattakurgan, Payariq, Jomboy, Ishtikhan districts;
  • Navoi region: Khatirchi, Navbahor, Nurota, Konimeh, Karmana districts;
  • Jizzakh region: Zomin, Bakhmal, Gallaorol, Sharof Rashidov, Forish, Yangiabad districts;
  • Tashkent region: Ahangaron, Bostanlyk, Parkent, Piskent, Ortachirchik, Yukorichirchik districts, and the cities of Angren and Almalyk;
  • Namangan region: Pop, Kosonsoy, Chortoq, Chust, Namangan, Yangikurgan districts;
  • Fergana region: Sokh, Shohimardon, Fergana, Beshariq districts;
  • Andijan region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalaquduk, Kurgantepa, Pakhtaabad, Izboskan, Khojaabad, Marhamat districts, and the city of Khanabad.

Uzhydromet emphasized that citizens living in these areas, as well as vacationers and drivers traveling through mountainous terrain, should take extra precautionary measures. The forecast also indicates that in some regions, rainwater accumulation may lead to localized flooding.
